When Highland Marketing was approached about this project, the client had a very clear idea of what he was looking for. My role was to work with him to help bring to life his vision of a journalistic, content-rich blog targeted at dog owners in New York City. He called it Urban Dog.
When the project began, the client had already commissioned the logo artwork (though I did provide feedback on some of the original concepts). I used this artwork as a starting point for creating the minimal colour palette at work across the site.
Ultimately, the site is a relatively straightforward WordPress blog, with many of the features that you would expect from such a site (including comments and sidebar widgets). The biggest customization was the inclusion of the "Daily Dog" feature, which uses a custom WordPress post type that allows the client to create new entries featuring specific dogs.
I also did some backend setup to get the client up and running with certain JetPack features.
